Rossignol recalls X-IUM and X-11 boots

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Health Canada, in cooperation with Rossignol on Tuesday announced a voluntary recall of cross country ski boots, asserting that the sole could separate from the upper boot during use, posing a fall hazard to skiers.
The recall involves the following models Rossignol sold between December 1, 2007 and June 1, 2009:
- X-IUM World Cup Skate
- X-IUM World Cup Classic
- X-IUM World Cup Pursuit
- X-11 Skate
- X-IUM J Skate (Junior boot)
These boots may be silver, orange, black or white in color.
Approximately 2,951 pairs of the boots under recall were sold in the US; another 1,094 pairs were sold in Canada.
The boot soles may separate from the upper boot during use and result in the skier losing control and falling.No injuries or incidents have been reported.

The U.S. CPSC says that consumers should immediately stop using the recalled boots and contact Rossignol to determine if their boots are included in this recall and if so, receive a free replacement or a refund. For additional questions, consumers should visit the firm’s web site at www.rossignol.com, or e-mail the company at recall(at)rossignol.com. U.S. consumers may contact Rossignol at (888) 243-6735 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT, while Canadians may call (800) 267-7547 or (450) 378-9971.
The U.S. CPSC says that consumers should stop using these boots immediately and inspect them to see if your specific boots have been recalled. A 5 or 6 digit lot number may be stamped in the right boot under the removable insole (see photo). If there is no lot number, the boots are not being recalled.
If your boots have lot numbers on the right insole that are on the list below, DO NOT USE THEM OR LET OTHERS USE THEM. Please contact Rossignol immediately at (888) 243-6735 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. MT in the US, or at (800) 267-7547 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET in Canada, or e-mail us at [email protected] to arrange for a free refund or exchange.
