Alex Harvey, winner of two 2009 World Cup bronze medals, has been demoted to the Canadian Development Team for the summer because he plans to skip the national team traing camps.
Harvey, son of former Canadian skier Pierre Harvey, has been training under personal coah Louis Bouchard. Their training plans leading up to the 2010 Olympics include a September training camp in Dachstein, Austria, but do not including attending a Canadian Team high altitude camp in Mammoth Mountain, California.
Canadian National Team rules say he must attend team camps. The Team has already bent the requirement of relocating to Canmore for Harvey.
The demotion will cost Harvey between $15,000 and $20,000 in association support.
