They're off! |
Alas, a couple people took wrong turns on the running course so we couldn't get comparable times. One of those, Greg Worrel, did get an accurate time on the 5 km rollerski segment, bettering his previous best leg by 1:25.
Time Feldkamp went out hard on the 5km run, posting his best time ever, but paid for it dearly with a slower rollerski leg. Spencer Ruffner had a great first Duathlon - after doing a 30 mile rollerski the day before.

Rob Fairman catches up to Steve Kuhl in the transition area |
Rob Fairman, who until now has only done the running leg, said he was going to start out conservative in the run so he'd have a good rollerski. Conservative it may have been , but his run was 42 seconds than his last effort!
Newcomer Mackenzie Kuhl, recent married to Steve, missed the last turn to the finish line, and run an extra half mile or so. Race Director Dan Motowski, recovering from being under the weather, decided to just do the run and posted a time only 1 second different than his best.
More pictures of the event are here.
The fourth and last 5 km run, 5km rollerski Duathlon of this series will be held on Sunday, December 12 at 10:00am at Island Lake Recreation Area near Brighton. Racers can compare their times between events to see how they've improved during the fall.
