Camps will start in May and conclude prior to the race season in December. Depending on the age group, older athletes will participate in seven camps lasting up to 2 weeks while younger athletes will participate in four camps lasting up to 1 week.
Details about the program are in described in the 2009-2010 Junior Development Program guid (PDF). The application deadline is April 10, 2009.
CXC is bringing in an additional full time coach named Igor Badamshin. Igor spent a number of years on the Russian National Team and earned an Olympic medal as well as numerous top ten World Cup results. He coached Nina Gavrylyuk (who now is his wife) upon retiring as an athlete. Nina earned 37 World Cup podiums and multiple gold medals in both World Championship and the Olympics. To this day, Nina (42) is still one of the fastest female athletes in the states, although she rarely races. Nina and Igor have been living in New Hamphire, coaching for Gunstock Nordic and their daughter now attends UNH.
Igor will be focusing his attention on CXC junior and Post-graduate programs as well as supporting our Elite athletes.
Here are couple links you can learn about him and his wife who he coached.
Igor was CXC High Performance Advisor for 3 years and many of his ideas were implemented in the CXC Elite Team training plan and Bryan feels that those ideas were critical in today’s results of the team.
