The 2009 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships is taking place in the Bohemian city Liberec, Czech Republic. Altogether, 20 medal events are on schedule, which is a new record in the history of FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. Of those, Cross-Country will count for 12 events -- six female and six male -- and Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined each for four. About 635 participants from 62 nations are expected to compete.
