HAYWARD, Wis., Feb. 21, 2009 – Spencer Lacy of Boulder, Colorado, and Jessie Diggins, Afton, Minn., skied to victory during the 23-kilometer Kortelopet skate race sponsored by Premier Physical Medicine & Wellness Clinic finishing at Telemark Resort in Cable, Wisc. today.
Lacy finished the Korte skate race in 1:03:16, and Diggins finished in 1:10:24.4.
Placing second in the men’s skate Korte race division, Jesse Lang, St. Louis Park, Minn., finished in 1:05:16.8; and Leif Nordgren, Marine on St. Croix, Minn., placed third in 1:06:32.8.
Placing second in the women’s skate Korte division, Elizabeth Guiney, Park City, Utah, finished in 1:12:14.8, and Christina Nowak, Annandale, Minn., placed third in 1:13:35.8.
In the 23-kilometer Kortelopet classic division, Grant Cook, Duluth, Minn., took top honors in the men’s classic division in 1:15:20.2; Bob Gerten from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., placed second in 1:17:27.4, and Gustav Downs, Duluth, Minn., placed third with a time of 1:18:24.2.
In the women’s classic Kortelopet division, Anne Hart, Stillwater, Minn., took top honors in 1:31:55.8; Molly Burger, Hayward, Wisc., placed second with a time of 1:31:56; and Amy Peterson, Chaska, Minn., placed third with a time of 1:32:23.3.
More than 9,500 skiers participated in 36th anniversary events from Feb. 21-23, 2009.
