Port Crescent State Park will host a “GO-Get Outdoors” candlelight cross-country ski night on Saturday, Feb. 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m., when the luminaries will be lit. Skiers can begin cross-country skiing along the 2.25 miles of groomed, illuminated cross-country ski trail beginning at 6 p.m.
"Last year we added another loop extending the total distance of the lit trail. Visitors can choose to ski the whole distance or shorten their journey to just one loop," said Betsy Kish, park supervisor. "We had a lot of good comments from skiers upon their return from the trails last year, and we're hoping we have a good snowfall for skiing this year."
Skiers may warm up around a bonfire, sip hot cocoa and enjoy other refreshments provided by the park. Participants may also take a ride in a horse drawn sleigh, complete with sleigh bells, for $1 per person, per ride.
This event could be cancelled due to lack of snow or adverse weather conditions. Persons interested in attending this event should contact the park at 989-738-8663 for trail conditions and event information up to and including the day of the event.
