CHAUX-NEUVE, France (Feb.1) - For the second day Alex Glueck (Steamboat Springs, CO) led the way for U.S. athletes, finishing 34th in a FIS Nordic Combined World Cup in France Sunday.
"Again, he was close to scoring points which is good for him as he has never scored ," U.S. Nordic Combined Head Coach Dave Jarrett said. "It is definitely encouraging and will give him some confidence"
Anssi Koivuranta of Finland won the race, keeping himself in the lead of the World Cup standings.
It was the first World Cup weekend for three newcomers Taylor Fletcher (Steamboat Springs, CO) Brett Denney (Steamboat Springs, CO) and Nick Hendrickson (Park City, UT).
"The three juniors also did a great job. While their jumping is not there yet they are skiing well. This is even more encouraging for us," Jarrett said.
The World Cup continues Feb. 7-8 in Seefeld, Austria.
