CHAUX-NEUVE, France (Jan. 31) - Norway's Magnus Moan took in his fifth win of the season, coming within 52 points of the overall lead during a FIS Nordic Combined World Cup Saturday in Chaux-Neuve. The top Americans sat out the event. Alex Glueck (Steamboat Springs, CO) finished 32nd, a career best, as one of four U.S. athletes competing in Saturday's event.
"That was a really good result for Alex," said Nordic Combined Head Coach Dave Jarrett.
The top U.S. skiers, including Billy Demong (Vermontville, NY), Todd Lodwick (Steamboat Springs, CO), Johnny Spillane (Steamboat Springs, CO), are on a short break from competition preparing for World Championships, which are Feb. 19 - March 1 in Liberec, Czech Republic.
It was the debut World Cup for Taylor Fletcher and Brett Denney (both Steamboat Springs, CO) and Nick Hendrickson (Park City, UT).
