
The White Pine Stampede is moving into full gear for next February’s event. February 7th 2009 marks the Stampede’s 33 consecutive year.
New for this year are:
“We’ve had to reflect on the weather problem seriously,” said Jack McKaig, the event’s director since its beginning. “Our trademark has long been the true point-to-point route of our track, but we can never maintain a solid base through warm weather across all of that private land. This year we’ve added greater access to Shanty Creek’s trails, with our volunteer grooming, to have a back up supply of trail routes to use.”
For those new grooming capabilities The White Pine Stampede is purchasing its own small groomer. Operating again without major sponsorship while maintaining their support of Children’s Hospital of Michigan, the Stampede Committee is asking their supporters to help preserve the experience and the long tradition that is the White Pine Stampede.
