Limestone Loppet this Saturday

IT'S OFFICIAL -- 2008 LIMESTONE LOPPET
9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8
Venue
McKee Marsh Trails (north end of Blackwell Forest Preserve), Warrenville, IL, on Mack Road, north of Butterfield, east of Highway 59, west of Winfield Road.
Trail surface
Crushed limestone. Trail wil be swept by a DuPage forest-preserve employee beginning at 7:30 a.m. Please use caution when necessary. There are a couple of minor hills and there could be soft gravel on portions of the downhills.
Format
Two events:
- 8K (two-lap) Roller-ski Time Trial
- 4K (one-lap) CAT-Ski race.
Roller-skiers will race first with one skier starting every 20 seconds, starting right at 9 a.m. We will attempt to seed it as best we can with faster skiers toward the front. CAT-Skiers will race from a mass start around 10 a.m.
Awards
We'll have a few overall awards, but at this point, no age-group awards.
Special Notes
- We do not have exclusive use of the trail, so please use courtesy and common sense when encountering other users.
- We must park in the Structural Maintenance and West Sector Operations lots (TO THE RIGHT), leaving the McKee Marsh lot open for the general public.
- We ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT GROOM THE TRAIL (sweeping, raking etc.).
- We'll have to collect a $10 entry fee to cover timing/insurance/permit/sweeping costs. Bring the fee in a white envelope and put it in the shoe box on the registration table.
- Everyone will be required to sign a waiver.
- I think we'll have a few raffle items.
- Everyone will be required to have fun!
Important Note: PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU PLAN TO COME, so we can get as many people signed up ahead of time as possible (Bob Richards: bobnanrun "at" sbcglobal.net)
One More Thing: There are toilet facilities right near the start/finish line.
