Lindsey Weir Dehlin to lead ski clinic, Oct 24-25

The North American Vasa is presenting a pre-season ski clinic at Timber Ridge featuring two-time Olympian Lyndsey Weier Dehlin.

Lindsey Dehlin is the youngest American skier to ever go to the Olympics. She has been a junior national champion, USSA Senior National Champion, NCAA National Champion, and NCAA all American and Lindsey has represented the US at the Nordic World Championships and two Olympics. A Northern Michigan University Alumnus, Lindsey was part of the team that took first, second and third for all the women’s Nordic events at the 2007 NCAA Championships.

She made the 2002 Olympic Team while still in high school and the '06 Olympic Team while in college.

This weeked will feature three different sessions for people with different interests and experience:

Friday, October 24 - One session

Timber Ridge Resort, 4050 E. Hammond Road, Traverse City
Cost: $10 adults, $3 students

6:00pm: Registration and equipment preview, new equipment & cloths from Brick Wheels
7:00pm: Lyndsey talks about her training and Olympic experience
8:00pm: Lyndsey answers questions
8:30: Ski prep and waxing clinic

Saturday, October 25 - Two technique clinics available:

1. Timber Ridge Skier Workshop
$5 adults or students

This session focuses on ski technique and fitness for less experienced skiers. Registrants need to bring skate ski poles and come dressed to actively participate indoors and out.

8:00am: Registration and equipment preview, new equipment & cloths from Brick Wheels
9:00am: Matt Joppichwill teach intermediate level skiers and will involve active, dry land practice on V1, V2 and V2 alternate. Bring you skate ski poles!
10:00am: Panel discussion what works best (long term training and race prep)
11:00am: Helayne Marchand (Centre Ice Fitness) ski specific exercises - pre-season

2. Grand Traverse Resort Rollerski Session
(Golf center, near main lodge)
$50 adults, $20 students

Skiers at this session should be comfortable on rollerskis. Skiers will need to bring their own skate rollerskis, plus poles, boots and helmet.

8:00am: Registration
9:00am: Roller Ski (skate) clinic with Lyndsey Weir Dehlin, learn V-2, V-2 alternate & V-1
11:00am: Review video of ski clinic
