All FIS Nordic discipline calendars for the coming season include World Cups at the 2010 Olympic venues. The Cross-Country events will take place at Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan valley. The entire venue is substantially completed. Only final clean up and building occupancy is still taking place.
A change was recently made to the sprint course. The length for the men's sprint competition was increased to 1.6 km. This was a response to the development of the men's performance in the classical sprint technique.
Last year, six competitions already took place at the venue in Callaghan Valley and the tracks were opened for the public. The focus in the preparation was on developing the team and teaching them to work together.
This season five different World Cup series (Cross-Country, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Biathlon and IPC World Cup competitions for disabled persons) and numerous other races will be hosted in the valley, which is approx 15 km west of Whistler.
