The head coach for this fall's Michigan ski technique clinic on Oct 11-12 is Yuriy Gusev, a long time, experienced coach with an extensive background in education, racing, coaching and organization. In Russia he was a first rank athlete of the Russian Sports Classification and received the equivalency of a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with a major in Physical Education.
Before he joined CXC Skiing as Program Director, he was the Program Director and Head Coach of the Russian Style Ski School in Madison, Wisconsin. Among the athletes he has coached are Wisconsin State Champion, Bill Bowler and Junior National Sprint Champion, Ben Cline.
Yuriy organized and directed the Capitol Square Sprints, which are part of the FIS Continental Cup SuperTour and a U.S. Olympic Team Qualifier.
Yuriy was promoted to Executive Director of CXC Skiing, the USSA division that includes South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Eastern Pennsylvania.
