Nominations sought for Mudgett Award

We are seeking nominations for the fifth annual Jim Mudgett Trail Pioneer Award. Nominations are open to anyone who has advocated for building, maintaining and using trails in the Grand Traverse area. Tim Brick won the award in 2007. Send submissions in writing to:

State the reasons you believe the person should receive this award. In addition, biographical information is helpful.

Mudgett, who passed away in 2004, was a founding member of the TART Trails Board of Directors, a trail chief on the Leelanau Trail, and a longtime supporter of the Vasa Pathway. Past award recipients include: Lois Bahle, Tim Brick, George Lombard, Dave Monstrey, Ted Okerstrom and June Thaden.

The award will be presented at the TART Trails’ Octoberfest Dinner on October 2. Deadline for nominations is September 2. For more information, call the TART Trails office at (231) 941-4300.
