What happens when you have an Achilles tendon injury and just have to keep on cross country ski racing? In Don Camp's case, he constructed a bionic boot and binding system to let him keep on skiing!
Don took and old cable binding and mounted it on a pair of rock skis.
He then took some garage door opener hardware to fashion a mounting plate on the boot.
The "boot" is essentially the walking cast he had to wear during his recovery.

Although the ankle flexibility required for classic skiing prevented Don from diagonal striding, it did not keep him from skating in the Michigan Cup Relays. Don's team came in 2nd in the men's 165+ age category!
