Summer Biathlon Season Opens

The 2008 Summer Biathlon season got underway on Saturday, April 19 with the first race of the season at the Whitetail Preserve in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. This is the same venue that will host the 2008 USBA Summer Biathlon National Championships and World Championship Team Trials on July 17-20.

Whitetail Preserve - 39 athletes competed in four races in this weekend’s event. The sport class races saw Tom Smith of Scranton, PA and Helen Evans of Drums, PA winning their respective races. In the match class races, Joe Iwan of Garfield, NJ and Pat Zerfas of Kensington, MD won the men’s and women’s races. Complete results of the races are listed below.
