MTU skiers finish strong at Canadian Nationals

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - The Michigan Tech Nordic skiing team posted a strong showing at the 2008 Canadian National Cross Country Skiing Championships Tuesday, March 19, at the Whistler Olympic Park, which will serve as the Nordic venue for the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Senior Adam Airoldi finished 38th in the 10-kilometer classic in 30:26.2. Michigan Tech assistant coach Karl Walczak finished 65th in 32:14.6.

Freshman Catie Cogger finished 24th in the junior women’s five-kilometer classic race in 19:58.1.

Kristina Owen, a 2007 Michigan Tech alum, finished 22nd in the women’s open five-kilometer classical race in 19:58.1. Mikael Kilpela, also a Tech alum, finished 79th in the men’s open race in 33:41.7.
