Golovko and Strandberg win Noquemanon

Two-time Olympian and Factory Team veteran Andre Golovko won the premier 51km classic event at the 2008 Noquemanon Ski Marathon in 2:27:07. Zach Violett and Adam Swank finished second and third in 2:27:12 and 2:35:13.
Kristina Strandberg was the first women - and 11th overall, finishing in 2:46:33. Martina Stursove and Diane Trembly follwed in 2:52:03 and 2:56:55.
Four Michigan Cuppers finished in the top 10 in the Men's 51Km Classic as well:
- Milan Baic was 6th in 2:41:43
- Andy Triebold, 8th in 2:44:04
- David Maclean, 9th in 2:44:28
- Denny Paull, 10th in 2:44:36
The first Michigan Cup women to cross the finish line was Daniela Gebhart in 16th in 3:35:48, followed by Joann Cavaletto in 44th (4:32:52).
Half Marathon - Classic
In the Classic 25km race, a pair of Marquette residents beat out a Traverse City local for the top 2 spots. John Anderton and Tony Lackey finished 1-2 in 1:18:34 and 1:20:45, with Traverse City's Any Rockwood 12 seconds behind in 1:20:57.
Tami Kochen won the women's classic 25km race in 1:20:58. Grand Rapids Nordic's Amy Todd finished second in 1:36:08, with Janet Koistenen in third in 1:45:03.
Freestyle Marathon
In the 51km Freestyle, Anikin Nikolai, Matt Weier and Ken Statz finished 1-2-3 in 2:17:47, 2:20:05, and 2:25:28. Cliff Onthank was the first Michigan Cup racer across the finish line, taking 14th in 2:33:40.
Top women were Paulette Niemi, Jamie Glommen Misner and Deborah Sussex in 2:37:15, 2:42:32, and 2:50:04. Michigan Cupper Amy Powell finished 5th in 2:58:01.
Half Marathon - Freestyle
Duncan McLean Peter Coenen, and Tom Fitzgerald were the top three in the 25km Freestyle in 1:07:42, 1:09:59, and 1:10:21. Aaron Swanker from Traverse City took 9th in 1:14:46.
Minday McCutcehon, Particia Stovey, and Michigan Cup's Gussie Peterson took the top three in the Women's half marathon freestyle, With Petersen narrowly missing second place. Times were 1:21:32, 1:21:47 and 1:12:48. Michigan Cuppers in the top 10 include Debbie Westphal in 4th, Susan Vigland in 5th, Judy Vajda in 7th and Julie Pritchard in 9th.
