Happy New Year Trail Friends,
2007 was a great year for TART and we are aiming for an even better year in 2008! Of course, I’ll keep you posted on all of our progress as it happens throughout the year.
I know you are all fans of trails already, or you wouldn’t be on the TART Friends email list. Are you looking to rub shoulders with trails and recreation gurus from across the state? If so, join us at the Michigan Recreation and Park Association Trails Forum: Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Grand Traverse Resort. The sessions address all types of trails, and it's the first effort in the state to bring all types of trail interests together to move Connecting Michigan and the Discover Michigan's Trails goals forward. Sign up if you can (registration form attached !) We’d love to see you there!
Have you been wondering about the progress of the Grand Vision? You know, that big regional transportation and land use effort that’s underway… If so, you’re in luck! Since the first public workshop, the Grand Vision team has been busy examining the maps, analyzing the data, and generating some preliminary scenarios. This information has helped to decide the focus for the upcoming workshops. Please sign up for one or all of the workshops listed below at the Grand Vision’s web site at: http://www.thegrandvision.org/login.php
Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the Hagerty Center, at NMC’s Great Lakes Campus from 6:30-9:00 p.m. The focus of this workshop will be on the Traverse City urban area.
Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Grand Traverse Resort AND at the Great Wolf Lodge (choose one) from 6:30-9:00 p.m. These workshops will take place at the same time and will be similar in content. Each will focus on a small area near the workshop location.
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Grand Traverse Resort from 6:30-9:00 p.m. This workshop will focus on transportation in the region including roads, public transportation, and non-motorized transportation.
Take care and think snow!
