To avoid breathing more smoke than necessary and to keep the base of the iron clean, remember to regularly wipe the base of the iron while using it. This is especially important when the iron is sitting while hot after having had waxed and while other work is being done.
Wiping the iron removes most of the wax that would otherwise be causing smoke in the waxing area. Paper towel is the best material for this purpose.
