
After the Beitostoelen weekend, the Cross-Country family will move to the north of Finland. From 29th November to 2nd of December, the traditional Nordic Opening, a joint weekend for all Nordic disciplines, will take place in Kuusamo/Ruka for the sixth time.
True season opener for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, this long weekend host all three Nordic disciplines at the very same stadium. 320 athletes from 27 nations will compete in a total of eight World Cup events at Ruka, a popular winter sport resort named after the local mountain (492m) located 25 km north of Kuusamo.
For the second time, the Cross-Country athletes will compete in a sprint race in the classical style on Saturday. The sprint course is a quite challenging one and very good for the classical sprint. On Sunday, 10 km (ladies) and 15 km (men) individual start competitions in the classical style are on the timetable.21 Nations will take part in the Cross-Country competitions weekend, 90 ladies and 117 men.
Traditionally, the Organizing Committee of Ruka has invested a lot of effort to entertain the spectators. This year, there are several live music performances and DJs on the schedule to ensure great atmosphere throughout the weekend.
