I hope your weekend plans include taking advantage of the warm September weather. I have already noticed some of the trees beginning to shed their green leaves for shades of yellow, orange and red. If you are looking to make some color tour plans... please mark your calendars to enjoy the fall colors on the Boardman Lake Trail and get some exercise too!
The second annual Ross Cogger Memorial TART Trail Trek takes place on October 7. The TART-sponsored event is a fundraiser for the expansion of the Boardman Lake Trail and starts at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7 at the Station Coffee Bar located at the depot near 8th Street and Woodmere Avenue.
Bird enthusiast, Bob Carstens, will be on hand to lead a guided walk on the Boardman Lake Trail. The trail offers scenic views of fall colors and breathtaking views of Boardman Lake. To enjoy a color tour, bring your bike, go for a run or take a leisurely stroll down the trail. The Boardman Lake Trail has a lot to offer.
Currently, the trail follows the east side of the lake. About 1 mile of the trail surface is paved, the other mile is crushed limestone with wood-decked bridges. To experience the entire trail length, plan on an approximate four mile round trip from the coffee shop. Future Boardman Lake Trail plans include a trail that encircles the lake.
The Station Coffee Bar is the event's home base. There, participants will enjoy coffee, doughnuts, cider and live music. A display of future Boardman Lake Trail plans will be on hand. Participation fees are $10/individual and $20/family. Register at the Station Coffee Bar. For more information, please contact the TART Trails office at 941-4300.
Hope to see you there!
