The Ironwood Daily Globe reports that ABR Trails failed to get permits before building a boardwalk through wetlands, a bridge over Whiskers Creek, and a ditch and draining of some wetlands to the Montreal River. The work was done to improve the cross country ski trail system for the winter.
According to Eric Anderson of ABR Trails, he did not know that permits were required.
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is requiring ABR to complete an after-the-fact permit, that could be approved or denied. The permit application will include proposed future work.
