The Ohio Nordic Ski Team has launched a new Tuesday night race series under the lights at Chapin Forest Pine Lodge Ski Center in Kirtland, OH. We will be sharing race formats with skiers at Cypress Mountain in Vancouver, BC including sprints, relays and other fun formats.
These races are designed to be an introduction to racing for those who have never ski raced before. They also act as training races for the Hilltoppers and masters skiers. EVERYONE is welcome!! The emphasis is on fun and participation.
The races start at 7:00PM SHARP at Chapin Forest Pine Lodge Ski Center. Be sure to call the Lake Metroparks Winter Sports Hotline at (440) 954 4178 for any updates on conditions and changes to race format. With the increased participation expected this year, the cut off for registration will be at 6:50PM and will be enforced. A race organizer will be in Pine Lodge beginning at 6:30PM. Waxing stations will also be set up in Pine Lodge before the race if there are not other programs using the lodge.
All races are $5.00 each. The year-end party will be free for those participating in 4 or more races. All others will pay $10 to attend the year-end party immediately following the final race at Twin Ponds Shelter. Racing begins on Tuesday night, January 4 and continues every Tuesday night through March 1.
Each year we are fortunate to have many sponsors support these races including our new series sponsor Yoko North America along with Appalachian Outfitters. There will be numerous draw prizes donated by our generous sponsors at the banquet on March 1.
Race directors wishing to be part of the series or with good ideas for race formats should send an e-mail to [email protected]. For all the details on this year's events please visit www.yokopoles.com uesnight
