The Michigan Cup Committee meets this coming Sunday, August 5 to discuss the upcoming Michigan Cup cross country ski racing season. The Committee consists of a representative from each team in the Michigan Cup Series.
Agenda:
One of the big items to be discussed will be whether to disallow cancelled Michigan Cup races to be rescheduled to Birkie weekend or to score such races with fewer points. many Michigan Cup skiers also race the Birkie, and the thought that allowing races over Birkie weekend forces the racer to choose doing the Birkie or defending Michigan Cup points.
There should also be a lively discussion - as their is every year - on the balance between team points based on participation vs. team strength. For the last couple of years, the pendulum has been swinging toward awarding increased team participation.
If you have any thoughts you'd like the committee to discuss, please contact your team captain or Ernie Brumbaugh, Chair of the Michigan Cup Committee.
