In conjunction with
Grand View XC Ski Challenge
Dec 17-19, 2004 at the Wolverine Trails in Ironwood, MI
Join us in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for some great early season skiing. And help officiate and manage some excellent Junior Olympic Qualifier/Collegiate/Citizen races. This clinic will include hands on race day activities and evening discussions. Lodging and evening meals are with the group (see below). The cost is $35/person, which includes just released FIS Internal Competition Rule book for 05-06, meals and beverages Saturday evening, lunches and coffee and donuts on race days and Wolverine trail passes for Friday-Sunday.
Trails will be groomed and prepared for skiing and course inspection all day Friday. Races will be completed in the early afternoon Saturday and Sunday, leaving plenty of time for training and recreational skiing before dark. As usual, they are currently blessed with total winter skiing conditions.
For the last several years CXC Skiing has run these informative clinics. They have been well received and a fun way for skiers to learn more about XC Officiating and Race Organization. This year we are again including a RACE ORGANIZERS emphasis that will assist citizen and local club race organizers in learning the basics of race management. Thinking about running a Sprint? Or a one-day or continuous Pursuit? Want to host a Junior Olympic Qualifier Race? How do mass start and individual starts differ? We will be discussing the basics of all these current issues. There will be many paper hand-outs and a CD Rom from the last International FIS Seminar in Calgary, Alberta. The CD will cover all the presented material and is ready to go for subsequent presentations to other organizations and clubs.
Principal presenter will be Scott Wilson, FIS International Technical Delegate, Chief of Competition Control for the 2002 Olympics, and Chief of Competition for the CXC FIS SuperTour at Telemark Resort. Assisting Scott will be Jack Jeffery, a member of the 2002 Olympic Officials and recent Technical Delegate for the Junior Olympics; John Filander, FIS International TD, Race Organizer for all Giant’s Ridge events and TD for these races.
