
More than just following her heart, Laura Valaas is following some of America's best cross-country skiers to Alaska.
Valaas, a native of Wenatchee, Wash., recently announced plans to join the star-studded APU Ski Team. The 2010 Olympic hopeful will join a squad that already boosts three U.S. Olympians and several other nationally ranked skiers.
"I was looking for a good place to ski train and thought APU sounded good," Valaas said by telephone Wednesday. "It's certainly considered one of the best teams out there.
"It's had a lot of successful athletes come out of its ranks."
