You know it's going to be a tough 10k race when you realize over the most difficult trails at Boyne Mountain. Per the trail map:
INNSBRUCK | 5 km | Steep hills |
KIRK'S CANYOU | 1 km | Very strenuous |
SKIP'S | 1 km | Please respect |
VOJIN'S | 2 km | CLOCKWISE travel on expert trails |
What do you expect on the trail the famous Baic family called their home course? OK, there were a couple of easy section leading to and from the big hills. But a two kilometer climb right from the start? The course had big ups and down, and there is simply no place to rest, even on the downhills!

Erica O'Hearn handled the hills and crossed the finish line in first, 35 seconds in front of second place Amanda Paull (44:25 to 45:00). Rebecca Davis (Hanson Hills / Cross Country Ski Shop) took third in 48:35.
The race was much less close in the men's 10k. Once again Jorden Wakeley (Hanson Hills / Cross Country Ski Shop) showed who's boss, taking his third win out of four starts in the 2025 Michigan Cup. Wakeley FLATTENED the hills with a time of 35:51. Long time favorite Milan Baic cruised to second in 39:20, followed by Mike Davis in 40:33.
Thanks Nick Baic and Boyne Mountain for holding the race. And thanks Nick for all the Toko wax recommendations!
