New snow fell overnight and during the 2025 Krazy Klassic cross country ski race at Huron Meadows Metropark in Brighton, MI on Sunday, January 12. Normally a 12km race, organizers decided to extend the race to 13km, the same distance as the prior day's Frosty Freestyle. Groans! "I was hoping for only 5 laps today." "I'm not sure I can doublepole 6 laps!" It was all good natured.
The course was triple-tracked in the woods with dual double tracks to and from the start/finish area to the woods. A mass start, racers quickly spread out across the race course. Many - but certainly not all - of the stronger racers doublepoled the course even though conditions were a little slower than Saturday's trail. The temperature was the same: 26F, but with a headwind from the woods to the start/lap/finish area and a light damp snow "drizzle" falling occasionally.

Team NordicSkiRacers Kevin Vazquez and Yvon Dufour took an early and decisive lead, both doublepoling the course. Vazquez led going into the second lap. It was not for long however: Dufour come around to pull. Looking back, he noticed he'd accidently created a gap...and decide to go for it. He had widened his lead to 29 seconds when he crossed the finish line first in 44:59. Vazquez finished second in 45:28. Frosty Freestyle champion Glenn Goodman (Grand Rapids Nordic Ski Team) was third, another 52 seconds behind Vazquez, in 46:20.

Rebecca Davis (Hanson Hills / Cross County Ski Shop) crushed the women's field in 54:07, good enough to beat all but seven men. Sarah Duclos (Team NordicSkiRacer) was second in 58:31 followed by Deanna Spencer (Cross Country Ski Headquarters) in 1:00:34.

There was also a two-lap race for about 4.5km. Erica Aittama (22:32), Elodie Benac (25:03) and Gwendolyn Wright (29:51) were the top three women. James Wright (24:21) took first for the men, with Jason Coleman (28:02) and Rayne Newmister (28:09) fitting the whole race for second and third.
