The North American Vasa Board of Directors is seeking candidates for Race Director for the North American Vasa Festival of Races, held annually during the second weekend of February (see https://vasa.org/). This position is part-time and most of the work is done in the winter months. The Race Director is responsible for working with the Board of Directors to plan and implement a high quality event for competitors, volunteers, spectators and sponsors. The Race Director also serves as the primary spokesperson for the Vasa to the media and community at large.
The Director’s role is to manage all individuals and groups involved in staging the North American Vasa Festival of Races, including volunteers, vendors and safety personnel. The director ensures all tasks necessary for successful events that are completed in a timely manner. Many of the tasks are assigned to various committees and board members, with each reporting to the Race Director.
Candidates should have experience in organizing and staging athletic, business or community events. Strong communication and organizing skills and proficiency with basic software programs are required as well as website management and social media communications.
