The Innsbrook Trail at Boyne Mountain has had it's share of victims over the years. The 10K classic race course starts with a long climb that appears deceptively easy...but it's not. If you don't consciously hold back, you'll redline just before a quick drop and a steep climb. If you redlined that first 2.5km, your race is over - it's a struggle to finish the race. The rest of the course? Fast downs and steep ups! Hairpin turns! Thrilling! Exciting! Make sure you've saved your energy!
Jorden Wakeley (Hanson Hills / Cross Country Ski Shop) had the energy: He took his second win of the weekend, beating second place Olin Kasperowicz (Vasa Ski Club) 34:17 to 36:29. Denny Paull (Grand Rapids Nordic Ski Team) was third in 36:47.
Mary Schlimmer Willoughby (Hanson Hills / Cross Country Ski Shop) stayed ahead of second place Wendy Anderson (Cross Country Ski Headquarters), 49:05 to 50:56, to take first for the women. Deanna Spencer was third in 53:35.
