I am a volunteer Nordic and alpine adaptive ski instructor and registered US Biathlon Paralympic coach. I am new to Michigan. In addition to my volunteering with ski programs for Michigan Adaptive Sports and Mt Brighton Adaptive Sports I am also volunteering to help two-time US Summer Paralympian John Kusku, who is visually impaired, cross over into Biathlon Para sport. And next year is an Olympic year. While John may not make the cut this year, the next cycle will be on him before long.
I am looking for one other volunteer who could function as a guide or as a movement analysis and XC technique instructor to join us because, when I am guiding John, I cannot help him improve his technique. Also, John needs to attend more races with a consistent guide since I am not always available. We ski at Huron Meadows Metropark and Kensington Metropark in Brighton, plus Forbush Corner and the Cross Country Ski Headquarters.
As they say, "The pay sucks but the benefits are terrible." At least in this case, the rewarding experience is worth it. If there is anyone out there willing to work with John and me, it would be fantastic! You can contact me [email protected] .
Thanks!
