Sarah and Reid Goble are professional cross-country skiers and siblings, working towards their goals of racing in the World Cup and Winter Olympics. They grew up in northern Michigan and competed in Michigan Cup races and the Great Lakes Division as junior skiers.
Sarah and Reid skied for and graduated from Michigan Technological University in Houghton. They are members of the BSF Pro Team in Bozeman Montana, and currently compete in the SuperTour series, the highest level of competition in the U.S.
Sarah and Reid Goble are professional cross-country ski racers from Michigan and former Michigan Cup skiers. They are members of the Bridger Ski Foundation PRO Team and are proud to be two of the few Michigan skiers to advance to the professional Nordic ski racing circuit. Their goals are to compete on the international stage, including the World Cup and Winter Olympics.
Growing up in Michigan, they competed in youth, junior, regional and Michigan Cup series races. They skied for Michigan Technological University and competed in both the NCAA and U.S. National championships. They currently compete in the U.S. Ski & Snowboard SuperTour series, the highest level of competition in the country.
Last season, Sarah was the U.S. SuperTour overall sprint champion; she placed 4th in the 10K skate at the U.S. National Championships; and earned her first World Cup starts in Les Rousse, France and Toblach, Italy, placing 39th in the skate sprint. Sarah returned to Italy in March to represent Team USA at the OPA Cup Finals, finishing 13th in the 10K skate.
Reid earned Top 10 results last season at the U.S. Nationals; Top 5 overall in the U.S. SuperTour series; finished 10th overall at the American Birkebeiner Ski marathon, winning the sprint bonus for the second time; and competed with Team USA in the OPA Cup Finals in Toblach, Italy, placing 32nd overall in the 15km pursuit classic race.
Like most professional skiers that aspire to compete internationally, Sarah and Reid are almost entirely self-funded and support themselves through part-time jobs, while training over 700 hours per year as well as traveling to races.
No athlete becomes successful on their own, they require a dedicated network of coaches, teammates, and supporters. Forbush Corner Nordic has organized this fundraising raffle to engage the Michigan skiing community to support Sarah and Reid and help them reach their goals.
