Opportunity to become PSIA Certified Instructor

The Vasa Ski Club is hosting an opportunity to improve your xc ski instruction and/or coaching skills through participation and completion of a Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Certification Hybrid Clinic. You must complete virtual class, workbook, and on snow portion of the clinic to be eligible for certfication:

• First, attend the PSIA Virtual Clinic on January 4, 2023 7-9pm.
• Second, complete workbook.
• Third, attend the PSIA On Snow Clinic during the Midwest Nordic Rendezvous on January 7th & 8th, 2023, at Hickory Hills, Traverse City, Michigan.

What: PSIA is an organization with more than 32,000 members. It has developed and established educational materials with common language, skiing fundamentals, and teaching models, which supports positive learning experiences. PSIA has established certification standards and innovative practical resources for members to develop t teaching skills personally and professionally. PSIA is for all snow sports with a theme for life-long adventures through education.

If you already dedicate time, expertise, and passion to the sport, then consider taking the next step forward with further education and collaborative learning experiences through PSIA. Please consider this opportunity to enrich your teaching and technical skills. This clinic will explore the cross country skiing fundamentals with movement analysis through a hybrid model. A collaborative-virtual clinic will take place with one evening prior to the on snow portion of the clinic. The virtual class will discuss the Learning Connection Model, Teaching, and Technical Model developed by PSIA, as well as provide opportunities for movement analysis.

Requirements:

1. Must attend the Virtual class on January 4, 2023 7-9pm
2. Must complete Workbook
3. Must participate in all clinics on Midwest Nordic Rendezvousweekend; both classic and skate skills are required to pass. (Jan 7&8, 2023 Hickory HIlls)
