The kid's cross country ski program, after an year's absence because of COVID-19, comes back to Huron Meadows this coming Wednesday, January 19. Team NordicSkiRacer, Huron Meadows Metropark, and Brighton Area Recreation Connection (BARC) are putting on the program for the 10th year. The program consists of three Wednesday nights skiing on the lit man-made snow loop at Huron Meadows, followed by a fourth "Race Night". Trail pass, rental equipment, ski instruction, and snacks are included. Parents - you can participate too!

Go over basics of skiing and safety in the building and work on getting skis, boot and pole sizes down on paper and send the kids out to do a short lesson in groups. Head back into lodge and have snacks and hot cocoa exit building by 8pm.

Kids will show up for race at 6pm to receive bibs, skis, boots, poles, and information for a 6:30pm event start. After the racers finish they will get a finisher medal, pizza, drink, goody bag with Metro park items and hot cocoa at the lodge. Rules: Ages K-8, but the small kids 6 and under should have a parent with them on the trail to assist with falls and lessens Limit of 40 kids Parents are welcome to participate in the evening lessons or ski on their own. They will just need to reserve their equipment at https://web1.myvscloud.com/wbwsc/mihuronclintonwt.... They will need to use the 5pm time slot on the reservation sheet and the sheets are not active until 7days before date of reservation Metroparks Daily or Annual park pass required Have kids arrive for clinics 10-15 minutes before the clinic to insure the have the most time on snow HAVE FUN!!
This program used to be held in December and early January but has been move to these later dates to take advantage of more reliable snow.
