Janice Davidson named North American Vasa Race Director

Traverse City: The North American Vasa is very pleased to announce the addition of Janice Davidson as our new Race Director for the 46th annual Festival of Races. Janice is the founder of North Mitten Events, Adventure and Education. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management and her background includes nearly 20 years in resort recreation management and event planning. She is also a certified EMT, Wilderness First Responder, experienced Race Director and Leadership Facilitator.

Most recently Ms. Davidson worked as the Volunteer Director for the Ironman 70.3 Michigan hosting 2,500 athletes where she organized the efforts of almost 900 volunteers. North Mitten Events directed by Janice hosts the Betsie Valley Trail Run and North Mitten Half Marathon, 10k and 5k races. Gussie Peterson, Vasa board president said; “We were seeking a person with a strong background in outdoor event planning and directing and were very impressed with Janice’s background, energy and enthusiasm!”

Janice is an active Benzie County community member where she resides with her two children. Upon her selection as Race Director she commented, “I am very proud to join the Vasa organization and to help maintain and grow their 46 year history of outstanding outdoor winter sports.”
