Toko's early American Birkebeiner wax recommendation

Show up in Hayward with your skis glide waxed twice with Performance Blue (first choice for top performance) or Base Performance Blue. Apply twice to do a great job of hardening the base up which will improve the durability of the liquid paraffin layer. The morning before your race, scrape and brush your skis out well. Then apply either Base Performance Liquid Paraffin Blueor High Performance Liquid Paraffin Blue (about 24 hours before your race). You don't have to put a ton on, just make the base is good and wet. The morning of the race, brush the skis out with a Liquid Paraffin Polishing Brush. This takes only about 20-30 seconds per ski if done aggressively. You will have great skis as simple as this sounds.

The Base Performance Liquid Paraffin Blue is amazing and affordable (this is without question my favorite and most used wax). The main difference in performance between it and the High Performance Liquid Paraffin Blue is that the High Performance will run better into warmer temperatures. They are both absolutely race worthy.

For those who want to apply a topcoat, this can be done on top of this layer. This is how they do it on the World Cup (topcoat over liquid paraffin) in most conditions. In that case the High Performance Liquid Paraffin acts as a bonding layer for the topcoat and it doesn't need to sit for more than 60 minutes.
