Some top results for Michigan Cup skiers in fridgid 2019 Noquemanon Ski Marathon

It was a cold Noquemanon Ski Marathon for 2019, with a start temperature around -22 degrees F! Race organizers had originally predicted a "balmier" -10, but the Mother Nature surprised everyone.

50km Classic

Brian Gregg, Tyler Kobilarcsik, and Thomas Kendrick (all from Minnesota) were the top male finishers in the 2019 Noquemanon Ski Marathon premier event, the 50km Classic. Gregg took a commanding lead, finishing almost 10 minutes ahead of Kobilarcsik (2:37:32.5 to 2:46:50.5). Kendrick finished not too far behind in 2:48:16.8.

The fourth finishef was Vasa Ski Club's Sam Holmes in 2:48:16.9. Other Michigan Cup top skiers include Alex Vanias (Hanson Hills/ Cross Country Ski Shop) in 7th in 2:55:05.8 and the University of Michigan Nordic Ski Club's Lars Hallstrom just behind in 8th in 2:55:10.3.

The top women were Vivian Hett (3:09:51.1), Erica Wagner (3:17:18.3), and Lindsey Dehlin (:25:30.5). Hanson Hills / Cross Country Ski Shop's Rebecca Davis was the first Michigan Cup women, finishing 5th in 3:45:36.4.

50km Skate

Grand Rapids Nordic Ski Team's Andy Liebner won the 50km skate event in 2:39:43.4 (good job Andy!). Zach Varty and Mitchell Campbell followed in 2:40:28.5 and 2:45:05.4. No other Michigan Cup skiers were in the top 10. Brad White was the top lower peninsula skier witt 12th place in 2:53:33.9 .

Mari Hardel was the first women in 3:13:25.9, followed by Jenna Ruzich and Diana Finkel (3:18:21.1 and 3:19:28.1). Jacqueline Larouche was the top lower peninsula skier with an 11th place in 3:48:44.4.

24km Classic

Former Michigan Cup skier Andrew Stevens won the 24km classic in 1:19:21.3, followed by Blaise Sopiwnik and Mikael Kilpela (1:19:50.4 and 1:21:09.4). Kevin Maki was to top lower peninsula skier, finishing in 11th in 1:35:12.7, just ahead of Hanson Hills / Cross Country Ski Shop's Robin Luce (1:36:38.1).

Hanna Torvi was the top women in 1:31:07.0. Ketzel Levens and University of Michigan Ski Club's Ingrid Lindquist were second and third in 1:32:32.0 and 1:46:58.7.

Good job all you Michigan Cup skiers, many whom won age group awards!
