I spoke with the Treetops Director of Skiing over the weekend about their hosting of the upcoming Mike Seaman Memorial 10k Classic. Due to confusion caused by changes in personnel at Treetops this year, the race fell through the cracks. As a result Treetops would like to cancel this year but remains enthusiastic about hosting the race next year and developing a Nordic ski business.
Forbush Corner offered to host the race when I told them the situation. Members the Michigan Cup Committee voted to allow them to host the race, so the new site for 2019 Mike Seaman Memorial 10k Classic will be Forbush Corner. It will be a short classic race (distance yet to be determined) with some funding going to the Michael Seaman Memorial Scholarship Fund. The race will count for Michigan Cup points for Seniors and be scored for the Brumbaugh Cup.
