Wax recommendations for upcoming races!
6-Hour Michigan Cup Team Relay, Hanson Hills Recreation Area, Grayling, MI
Temperature at start time should be right around freezing (0º C) My guess is that the snow will be transformed by thaw and freeze cycles this week and the grooming process. There will be some dirty sections.
Solda Good Wax
Base layer of Solda HC28 ironed, scraped and brushed.
Paraffin layer of Solda UF7 ironed, scraped and brushed.
Solda Better Wax
Base layer of Solda HC28 ironed, scraped and brushed.
Paraffin layer of Solda F15 Red or F15 Orange.
Solda Best Wax
Base layer of Solda HC28 ironed, scraped and brushed. Then apply a layer of Solda S30 cold powder. Scrape this carefully while it is still warm.
Paraffin layer for early skiers, Solda F40 Red Special. For later skiers Go with Solda F40 Orange Special.
Powder coat, apply Solda Fluor 100. Top this with Solda Powerjet 1 applied with a roto-cork and brushed.
The Powerjet can be ironed in. Rub the block on the ski after the paraffin layer is brushed. Use an iron set at 130ºC with a layer of fiberlene between the iron and the base. Pass the iron slowly along the entire base. Let the ski cool, then scrape and brush with a nylon polishing brush.
