"All systems Go!" for 42nd Annual North American Vasa

The 42nd annual North American Vasa Festival of Races will be staged at Timber Ridge Resort on the weekend of Feb. 10-11th. A series of freestyle ski races as well as fatbike races will be conducted on Saturday the 10th and three classic style races will be staged on Sunday Feb. 11th. The recent snow, the expert grooming of three grooming teams, and predicted cold nights will ensure the best race conditions of the year.
This year the Vasa will have two title co-sponsors, Short’s Brewing Company and Chemical Bank. For the first time ever, the Vasa will recognize individuals of great meaning to our history. Several key races are known as follows:
- George Kuhn Half Marathon (28k freestyle),
- Ted Okerstrom Marathon (50km freestyle),
- Chemical Bank Classic (16km classic), and
- George Lombard Loppet (34km classic).
The two fatbike races will be known as
- The Short’s Short n Fat (18km) and
- The Shorts Grand Fat (42km).
In addition, the annual Vasa Pasta Feed will be held at the Timber Ridge banquet hall from 5-8pm on Friday Feb. 9th.
