We had an awesome Frosty Kid's race this year! Most of the thirty-four kids raced the entire 2.5k course; a handful of the smallest racers took a shortened route. The fastest skier of the day was Mateo Lung who skated the race. He even took a wrong turn and ended up doing two laps in the woods before still finishing ahead of the other skiers.
The Frosty Kid's race is part of the Brighton Schools recreation program. Twenty-four of the skiers attend three skiing classes hosted by Team NordicSkiRacer. An all volunteer effort, Team NordicSkiRacer has held these classes for the past eight years to bring new skiers into the sport. Several of the parents also took to class and learned to ski as well, or learned to ski better.
The proceeds from past Frosty Freestyle and Krazy Klassic races were used to help fund new rental skis for Huron Meadows Metropark that were used for the kid's classes.
Frosty the Snowman hosted the event, skiing out on the course with the kids and making sure everyone had a fun time in the cold conditions!
