Harbor Springs, Michigan – Back by popular demand, the Nub's Nob Nordic Ski Series is better than ever for the 2018 ski season! In its forth winter, the series builds our Nordic ski community in northern Michigan by bringing together skiers of all ages and abilities every Wednesday night.
The purpose of the series is to bring together cross-country skiers of all ages and abilities for a night of fun, fundamentals and of course, good food. The hope is to continue building the Nordic community in Northern Michigan during this fourth season.
Hosted by Nub’s Nob and presented by The Outfitter of Harbor Springs, the Nordic Ski Series has been a huge hit for the past three winters.
The series begins Wednesday, January 3 at 6:15 p.m. with a focus on classic skiing. The focus will alternate each week between classic and skate skiing. Skiers meet in the Brown Bagger Room at Nub’s Nob. The Series will continue every Wednesday night through March 7th.
The evening always begins with a short review on skiing fundamentals lead by Jim Harrington. Harrington, a top finisher in the North American Vasa, White Pine Stampede and American Birkebiner races, was head coach at Whitman College, University or Wyoming and College of Idaho. He has coached a NCAA Division I National Champion and numerous successful athletes.
After a short technique demo, skiers will head out on the trails at Nub’s Nob to practice and enjoy the company of other skiers. The evening ends with light food provided in the Brown Bagger.
Every Wednesday night; came when you can. No registration required. Meet at 6:15pm in Nub's Nob Brown Bagger Room.
Josh and Molly Baker of the Outfitter will again be offering cross-country ski rentals at a discount and Nub’s Nob has drastically reduced the nightly trail pass rate to just $8 for participants. Season Pass holders do not need an additional trail pass.
Ben Doornbos, General Manager at Nub’s Nob is excited to see the series continue, “At Nub’s Nob we have 21 kilometers of groomed Nordic trails for skate and classic skiing. We are happy to see the trails used for the Nordic Ski Series. Our hope is that more people will come to discover this life-long sport and make new friends in the process”.
