White Pine Stampede countdown begins

Snow is falling here in Northern Michigan, and we expect to receive between 6-10 inches more before race day! As the final countdown for the event begins on Saturday, February 4, 2017, we just wanted to pass on these reminders:

We did lose quite a bit of base during this longer-than-normal January thaw, so Jack and the trail crew will decide by Thurs., Feb. 2 if the race has to be cancelled. We will do our best to contact each racer individually and will post it on social media and our website. Due to conditions, you may want to bring your old skis.

Don't forget to join us for the Cool-Down Party after the race in the Bellaire Ballroom at Shanty Creek Resort. Short's beer will be served for $2 a pint like last year, but remember to bring the WRISTBANDS for you and your guest that are included in your race bag. This is your ticket for the food and bread sticks that will be served. Additional tickets may be purchased at our cost - $10.

You may register and pick up your race bag the night before from 3-8 p.m. in the Shanty Creek Lakeview Hotel lobby or on the day of the race, beginning at 7 a.m. at Mancelona High School, where the race begins.

Race times are:

• 50K--9:30 a.m.
• 20K--10:30 a.m. 
• 10K 11:30 a.m.

Pre-race meetings will be held 45 minutes prior to each race time. A pancake breakfast for $5 will also be served all morning.

We will continue to update you on conditions and include reminders as we get closer to race day. We look forward to seeing all of you here in Antrim County.
