Wax recommendations for upcoming races!
The REI Frosty Freestyle, Huron Meadows Metropark, Brighton, MI
Expect fresh man-made snow over a thick base. The park will be making new snow and laying down existing piles of ready-made snow on Friday in preparation for the race. The race course has been modified from last year: the section of trail with the funny hill on the south has been replaced with a new loop cut through the trees to the north of Buck's Run, the man-made snow loop.
See the NordicSkiRacer Facebook page for the latest photos of trail conditions!
Start with a ski that has a medium to warmish grind. On a clean base:
Base: Apply a layer of Solda HC28, scraped and brush. Then apply a layer of S30 powder. Scrape when it is hot and brush.
Paraffin: If you have a Solda Fluor Plus Dice, cold crayon a light layer, then apply Solda F40 Special Red. Scrape and brush.
Top Coat: Solda Powerjet 1. Cold crayon a good layer. Then with a sheet of fiberlene between the iron and the ski base, iron the PJ1. Polish with a nylon brush and then with a felt pad.

Kick wax. I would be tempted to try the Rex Powergrip Violet. If the track is icy then a Swix Silver klister.
