MARQUETTE, Mich. — Northern Michigan head Nordic skiing coach Sten Fjeldheim announced Wednesday that Erin Moening has signed a National Letter of Intent.
Moening, who placed second at the 2016 Minnesota state championship, will become a Wildcat in the fall of 2017.
"I'm very excited for Erin to join the Wildcat skiing program," Fjeldheim said. "She has raced against the best and proven herself. And she's not only an exceptional athlete; she's also a great student and person."
A Saint Paul, Minn. native, Moening is a five-time All-American Nordic skier and a five-time Minnesota state championship qualifier. As a junior, she helped Highland Park High School capture its first Section 3 title in six seasons.
Moening competed at the 2016 U.S. National Ski Championships in Houghton, Mich. A member of the 2016 Midwest Junior National Team, she finished seventh in the 5K individual start at the U.S. Junior Ski Championships.
