Michigan Trails Advisory Council meeting on April 12

The Michigan Trails Advisory Council will hold its regular meeting Tuesday, April 12, at the Ralph A. MacMullan Conference Center, 104 Conservation Drive, in Roscommon. The public meeting will begin at 10 a.m.

The full agenda can be found online, and items include:

• State trail plan update.
• Marquette trails portal update.
• Liability update.
• Forestry and trails working together for multiple objectives.
• Oak wilt and the potential impact trail maintenance activities could have on the spread of the disease.
• Update on cooperative trail challenges.

The Michigan Trails Advisory Council was created by Part 721, Pure Michigan Trails, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, to advise the DNR director and the governor on the creation, development, operation and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, including, but not limited to, snowmobile, biking, equestrian, hiking, off-road vehicle, water and skiing trails. In advising the director and governor on the creation and development of motorized and non-motorized trails in the state, the council shall seek to have the trails linked wherever possible.
