As of the Boyne Grinder, The Vasa Ski Club has the overall lead in the Michigan Cup competition, leading the Cross Country Ski Headquarters 23,209 to 21,454. The Grand Rapids Nordic Ski Team is neck and neck with Team NordicSkiRacer, with only 31 points separating third and fourth place. Hanson Hills/Cross Country Ski Shop is itching to move up and take fourth, and maybe even third.
It's a close race for the podium for the Michigan Cup this year!
Issac Coulter (Vasa Ski Club) heads the Junior Men standings with 866 points, followed by Reid Goble (800 - Straits Striders) and Dean Jacob (752 - Vasa).
Mary Lyon is in first place in the Junior Women's competition with a commanding 960 points. Kelly Peregrine and Niki Roxbury are second and third with 760 and 736 points. All three race on the Vasa team.
For the Senior women, Rebecca Davis (HH/CCSS) has a comfortable lead with 988 points, followed by Ellen Wiitala (932 points - UoM) in second, with Brenda Carlson (HH/CCSS) just a few points back in third with 928 points.
Senior Men? We have a tie in points for first place overall, with Vasa Ski Club racers Milan Baic and John O'Hearn each having 996 points. Team NordicSkiRacer's Jay Woodbeck is just six points behind in third with 990 points.
