Gaylord Middle School XC Ski Club gets skis

The Gaylord Middle School cross country ski club would like to thank our sponsors for the purchase of 28 pairs of skis, boots, poles, and bindings.

With the help of Forbush Corner Cross-Country Skiing, we were able to purchase new Madshus ski equipment using five grants totaling $5000. A special thanks to the following organizations who awarded us grants:

• American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation
• Rotary Club of Gaylord
• Otsego County Community Foundation
• Wagar Motor Sales Inc
• Gaylord Middle School

Ann Wagar and I met with 42 very enthusiastic middle schoolers this past week to fit equipment. We look forward to a wonderful upcoming ski season in beautiful Gaylord, MI. 

Whether or not an organization chooses to fund our ski club or not, I am very grateful for all the organizations that help make our community a better place. I am a few sets of skis short and have a small waiting list of kids looking to get in, but Ann and I will make it work with what we have. I still have two grant request out there and am hopeful things will work out.
